BOSTON — Learning technology company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt today announced its schedule of programming for next week’s virtual SXSW EDU® Conference & Festival, joining thousands of educators and industry practitioners from across the country for engaging discussions about innovation and the future of teaching and learning in a landscape altered by the ongoing pandemic.
Over the course of the conference, which takes place March 9–11, HMH will offer two sessions that explore vital topics, including lessons gathered from a year of teaching and learning amidst COVID-19, the future of the classroom and purposeful use of technology, building equitable solutions, and the importance of social-emotional learning and how we can better support teachers, students and families.
On March 9, HMH CEO Jack Lynch sits down with OZY Media’s Carlos Watson for a wide-ranging discussion on the future of the classroom, the edtech industry, leadership and more. On March 11, HMH’s Matthew Mugo Fields, General Manager of Supplemental and Intervention Solutions and co-founder of Innovation for Equity, joins Dr. Lisa Herring, Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools and Henry Hipps, Deputy Director of the K-12 Education team at the Gates Foundation for a conversation about what we’ve learned over the past year including challenges, bright spots and where we need to go from here.
“Each year SXSW EDU convenes innovative thinkers and professionals in education for dynamic discussion and problem-solving – we are grateful to join the conversation this year, at a critical time for the K-12 world,” said Jack Lynch, HMH CEO. “We look forward to both sharing what we’ve learned and learning from other educators and thought leaders as we all continue to navigate the changing landscape of education and rechart the course for how we help all students achieve better outcomes.”
