Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) will showcase its new, digital-first English Language Arts program, Collections© 2015, as well as honor 180 years of literary excellence at the 2013 National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) annual convention, taking place on Nov. 22-24 in Boston. Booths #1506 and 1507 will buzz with demos, talks, games and giveaways that resonate with the conference’s theme, (Re)inventing the Future of English.Attendees can get instant access to conference events, schedules and more with the official NCTE mobile app, sponsored by HMH. Users can win a variety of prizes with the app booth game “Crack the Code” by visiting the HMH booths.
HMH booth activities include:
Collections 2015 Showcase: Explore Collections, HMH’s dynamic new ELA program for grades 6-12, built to meet the rigorous expectations of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Visitors will receive a 120 day free trial to test-drive the curriculum.
Author Sessions: A special in-booth presentation will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. ET featuring Collections Program Consultant Carol Jago and Susan Beth Pfeffer, author of HMH title Life As We Knew It. They will discuss tips for teaching the novel with Collections to help students build reading proficiency.
Giveaways and Games: A number of in-booth games and giveaways will take place throughout the weekend, including a digital scavenger hunt, the opportunity to win movie passes to the upcoming The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug movie, and one lucky school will win a field trip to a private, advanced screening of the movie.
