5 Ways We're Saying #Thanks to Teachers This Year

10 Featured Teachers

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Family? Friends? The big meal you’re about to eat? Here at HMH, we’re thankful for all of that—but teachers are at the top of our list!

This Thanksgiving, we’re asking you to thank a teacher (or yourself!) by participating in one of our giveaways below. Read on for five different ways we are expressing gratitude to all of the wonderful educators out there, who are impacting lives and shaping the future every day.

1. #10FeaturedTeachers and #ShapeTheFuture GIVEAWAY

Did you know that this fall celebrities Kristin Bell and Busy Philips asked teachers to post their Amazon wishlists to Instagram and offered to get 10 lucky winners the school supplies they need? WeAreTeachers then launched its own version of the challenge. And now HMH is joining in!

We’re excited to announce that we will give 100 teachers—chosen at random—a free $50 Amazon gift card when they share their classroom needs on Instagram or Twitter. You just need to take a photo and write a short explanation—one to two sentences—about why you should be selected. Be sure to use the hashtags #10FeaturedTeachers and #ShapeTheFuture to enter. The first 10 winners will be announced by Giving Tuesday on Nov. 27, and the additional 90 will be chosen by Dec. 21, just in time for the holidays. We hope you’ll be one of the many #10FeaturedTeachers and #ShapeTheFuture!

2. READ 180 Sweepstakes

Want to bring virtual reality to your classroom for immersive storytelling? You can win an Oculus Go™, a virtual reality headset, by entering our sweepstakes

We’re both thanking teachers for their hard work and dedication to improving students’ lives and honoring the 20th anniversary of our READ 180 program, which has been at the forefront of blended learning and reading intervention. READ 180 has touched the lives of millions of students and accelerated literacy improvement across 40,000 classrooms.

3. Numeracy Counts—Free Lessons and a Free Trip to NCTM

Be on the lookout for free music-based lesson plans for K-12 classrooms as part of our equity-focused Numeracy Counts initiative! Further instructions will be provided to outline how you can also win a trip to NCTM in San Diego this spring—on us! The winners will join us and Math Solutions’ Senior Fellow and NCTM Past-President Matt Larson at the event. Subscribe to Shaped or follow us on Twitter to get the official announcement in the coming months.

4. Story Stash

You can have a chance at winning 10 HMH books for your classroom’s library by participating in our Story Stash! Explore the titles found in our new literacy programs, Into Reading and Into Literature, create a list of stories your students would want to read, and enter your information. One winner will be chosen at random in November!

5. 180 Awards for Educators

Each year, HMH honors exceptional teachers who have proven that it’s never too late to turn around a struggling student’s academic path and help them achieve success through programs such as READ 180, MATH 180, and System 44. Teachers are nominated by their colleagues and peers who feel they are truly dedicated to their students’ success.

This year’s winners received a free trip to the 2018 Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida and a READ 180 paperback library for their classrooms. The winning MATH 180 educator was also given a $1,000 gift certificate for professional development publications from Math Solutions.

Stay up to date for information on the 2019 180 awards by following us on Twitter and Facebook.

And that’s some of what we have in store for you! There are plenty of opportunities for teachers to win prizes for their classroom and attend conferences to make an impact on their school and district. Thank you again to the education community for helping shape students’ lives—and #ShapeTheFuture.
