STEM Using Alternative Energy

Energize your classroom by having students build hydrogen/fuel cell cars, solar-powered cars, and wind turbines. Complete activity packet includes hands-on activities to make science come alive in a variety of career courses, such as auto mechanics and woodworking. Phenomenal Phenomena

Washington State Convention Center, Room 609

NGSS content instruction moves away from separate silos of information to connected content in coherent storylines. Participants will learn about the types of and easy ways to use phenomena as they experience instruction using anchoring, investigative, and everyday phenomena.

NGSS Laboratories

Washington State Convention Center, Room 609

The NGSS mandate moving away from canned or cookbook-style labs to activities in which students have to explore and figure out phenomena and engineering solutions. Participants will compare traditional and NGSS-based labs as they discuss how to approach student-centered learning experiences.
