Our partnership with Wiley® puts equitable access to advanced science programs within reach for all students, preparing them for a successful transition to college and fulfilling careers in STEM, healthcare, and more.
Our AP®, honors, and elective programs are developed by nationally recognized educators who continue to research and teach—ensuring up-to-date, relevant material.
Our programs are enhanced by detailed illustrations, videos, interactive graphs, simulations, animations, and tutorials.
Available in digital and print formats, HMH Advanced Placement & Elective programs deliver the resources teachers need to custom-tailor courses and frequently measure student progress.
The HMH and Wiley partnership offers high schools top titles in AP, honors, and electives. Our time-tested content is developed by nationally known thought leaders who remain active in their fields of study.
Allen and Harper's lab manual contains dynamic experiments for hands-on application. Gerard Tortora’s programs provide introductions to comprehensive content, giving students a solid foundation for a future medical career.
Whether teachers are looking for basics across the discipline, or a program to support an AP® class, HMH has options.
Environmental Science
Our environmental science programs focus on the most prevalent issues today, including energy, sustainability, climate change, and humans’ impact on the environment.
Course offerings for algebra-based or calculus-based Physics meet your high school advanced, honors, or Advanced Placement course requirements.
Anatomy & Physiology
Introduction to the Human Body is developed to meet the needs of a one-semester high school anatomy and physiology course. The program provides an effective blend of stunning art and clearly written content to illuminate the complexities of the human body. Clinical discussions make the content relevant to students, and class-tested pedagogy is woven into the narrative.
Principles of Anatomy & Physiology has been the leading program for students of human anatomy and physiology on college campuses and in high schools for several decades. Its comprehensive, detailed, and accessible content—including outstanding visuals—makes it the best resource of its kind. Students who complete the program will be prepared for future college biology courses.
Laboratory Manual for Anatomy & Physiology contains activities and experiments that help students visualize anatomical structures and understand complex physiological topics. Lab exercises require students to first apply information they have learned and then critically evaluate it.
Chemistry
Basic Concepts of Chemistry has been updated with many new features that address general chemistry topics, with an emphasis on outcomes assessment and student-centered activities. Every concept in the program is clearly illustrated with one or more step-by-step examples. “Making It Real” essays present timely, relevant, and engaging real-world applications.
Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter provides the necessary practice, support, concept mastery, and individualized instruction to lead to success in the AP® Chemistry course. The program’s unique “chemical tools” approach guides readers to analyze and solve mathematical and conceptual problems, as well as gain concept mastery of chemical phenomena.
Visualizing Everyday Chemistry introduces students to the basic principles of chemistry through words, compelling visuals, and learning aids, allowing students to quickly visualize how chemistry impacts their lives and society. The program is ideal for a one-semester course.
Organic Chemistry covers the concepts typically included in an organic chemistry textbook, but places special emphasis on skills development to support these concepts. This emphasis provides students with a greater opportunity to achieve proficiency in key organic chemistry skills.
Environmental Science
With themes of sustainability and environmental systems, Environment, AP® Edition provides students with the tools to think critically about environmental science and the environmental issues we face today. This program addresses six unifying themes outlined in the AP Environmental Science course description.
Visualizing Environmental Science, newly refined and expanded, provides students with a valuable opportunity to identify and connect the central issues of environmental science through a beautifully illustrated, visual approach. Concise enough for a one-semester course, it is also comprehensive enough to cover all main concepts and applications.
Environmental Science Active Laboratories and Applied Problem Sets incorporates a broad variety of perspectives and disciplines to provide a comprehensive introduction to the everyday practice of environmental science. Through hands-on labs, students gain a strong understanding of the impact of environmental-human interactions.
Physics
Cutnell and Johnson Physics, AP® Edition focuses on conceptual understanding, problem solving, and establishing relevance, so that students can succeed in class and on the Advanced Placement Physics 1 and 2 exams. It includes more than 250 author-narrated videos, as well as practical examples, career insights, and case studies from medicine, biology, and other professions.
Fundamentals of Physics, AP Edition provides students with the skills they need to succeed in AP Physics C and in future coursework through its focus on conceptual understanding, problem solving, and current real-world applications. Through manageable chunks of content, embedded media, interactive challenges, activities, and games, the program fosters a deep understanding of calculus-based physics concepts.
Matter & Interactions integrates 21st century physics and computational physics for the calculus-based physics course, mirroring how practicing physicists view their discipline. The text emphasizes the small number of fundamental principles that underlie the behavior of matter and identifies models that can explain a wide variety of physical phenomena.

Today’s students often read the assigned material, and when they do, they struggle with comprehension. Jearl Walker has developed a new learning design to simulate an office-hour type discourse, based on his experiences with one of his physics students.
Wiley authors Dave Young and Shane Stadler discuss how flipping the classroom, or “inverted teaching,” lets you spend class time engaging students with active learning techniques instead of traditional lecturing.
