An effective social-emotional learning curriculum for elementary students considers their full developmental needs. When lessons with SEL components are embedded across content area curricula, students get daily practice developing SEL competencies and finding real-world solutions to challenges.
We embed the five SEL competencies—self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness—throughout our research-backed core, intervention, and supplemental programs.
SEL in education can develop relationships among teachers and students. During classroom discussions, students listen to one another and consider other perspectives. And during getting-to-know-you activities, students form connections with classmates and build collaboration skills.
Goal setting is a part of self-management and can boost academics. Programs with built-in SEL lessons let students practice setting goals and developing action plans to achieve them.
SEL components are built into our core and supplemental SEL programs for elementary school—saving teachers time while giving students the support they need.
